happy skulls first release of 2015 comes from uk based artist creta kano, who first impressed with his 2013 debut on rotterdam’s pinkman records. he showcases his highly melodious and deeply textured sound across three tracks for the bristol imprint. *skyway motel* is an emotive, detroit inspired amalgamation of warm chords and rolling drum machine rhythms. the tracks romantic qualities are emphasised on *skyway 81*, a screwed, pitched-down version that re-casts the original as a serotonin fuelled slow jam. *false water* completes the package. a sprawling trip in to broken techno territory, reminiscent of 90s era rephlex.

meda fury presents *remember every moment ep* by pearl river sound. fury continue to bring the heat with their first release of what could quite possibly be a banner year for the label. pearl river sound is the moniker of italian musician roberto semeraro. based in rome he emerged on the scene with a cassette release on the seattle label further records. after a further cassette release on indole records which again explored his classic 90s electronic and idm influences, his media fury debut sees him bring in some 4/4 beats to channel classic deep house sounds without losing his signature pure and melancholy sound.

launched last summer, the 124black series has been a fine addition to the more established 124recordings label that promotes a darker, harder sound whilst remaining firmly rooted in the underground. a third release on the series retains the focus on new and upcoming producers with demuja, the knight cats, tijn, and jekyll all present. building on the raw and crisp style of house shown on numerous digi releases, demuja sets the tone perfectly with the stripped back throbbing delight that is everytime, whilst paris duo the knight cats add some 90s flavour with the excellent we know that. tijn arrives on 124black after impressing with a recent outing on djebali and diss you is a fine b side burner along with jekylls rattling transition dub.

following his appearance (albeit in remixed form) on the debut 12- from keyboard masher s pleasure unit imprint, norwegian eccentric skatebard is given the honour of releasing the label s second ep. apparently all three tracks are vintage cuts from the archive, previously unheard but original recorded straight to tape in his home studio. there s naturally much to enjoy, beginning with the scandolearic-goes-rave synth-house madness of -react 2 rhythm- - all urgent, swirling beats, epic synthesizer melodies and mid- 90s us garage influences. there s more surging, nu-disco goes-house fare to be found on -it goes on & on (the bassline)-, while -pingu- is a joyous chunk of chugging scandolearica blessed with tactile shaker percussion and a jaunty, rock solid synth bassline.

undoubtedly & massive early 90s revival techno. both tracks spanning on their own full sides between several themes each - unlike much of todays poorly produced and reduced retro dance music. two other parts of this collaboration will be released on klasse wrecks and grafiti tapes respectively. blip!

tensal is the first guest artist of the ownlife imprint and opens the year 2015 with a piece of authentic techno in all its forms. four initiatic cuts that re-define the sonorous shades of this label. ritual i is a return to the rough sound of the late 90s, no concessions, pure effectivity for the beginning of the record. the a side is completed with the more hypnotic part of the ep. a deep track, dry and minimalist with the elements needed to create the mystical atmosphere which floods this reference. ritual iii is absolute energy. a constant and atmospheric progression is perfect to create an impact on the dancefloor, maintaining tension to the end. the last track opens the door of the emotional side of the artist and represents a contribution of light to ownlife. a cut of dusty textures and delay tones. a landscape of stabs with a flawless structure for smoky clubs with low light.

at the tail end of the 90s, gregory darsa played around with a number of pseudonyms before finally settling on his now familiar dj gregory alias. one of those abandoned aliases was headcore. it was used for a single ep back in 1998, released on chateau flight s label, versatile (then in it s infancy). here, that ep gets a welcome reissue. it s aged rather well, with all four tracks - explorations of deep house themes with occasional nods to the dubby, african-influenced style darsa would later explore on the africanism project - sounding as fresh now as they did 16 years ago. picking highlights is tricky, but we re particularly enjoyed the sparse, swinging dub-house of -cage- (accompanied with a tasty drum dub) and the chez damier-influenced chug of -in & out

the new desolat x-sampler comes as a 2x12 inch package with eight tracks, and includes a download code that gives the buyer those eight tracks in digital format, plus another six digital tracks. in keeping with tradition it features a combination of artists who have already graced desolat before and artists who make their debut on the label.

the lunes de fiel compilation kicks-off with an extended uptempo trapped-in-a-maze hysteria set in a psychedelic 90s norwegian remake of potemkin in the harbor of bergen. in the woods of woody lithuania it continues with a road movie starring a young smugglers couple and arguably the most legendary love scene in film history. the story ends at night with a directors cut of a downhill indiana jones on lsd fighting hungry alligators at the riverside of the elbe valley. a definite must have on the new bitter moon imprint!

before dj gregory was point g. point g is an alias used by the french produced to explore a gritty, raw sound steeped in abstract vibes but with a very basic approach, which makes it all the more captivating making a strong impact on the underground scene in the 90s, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw ep, on the raw again ep…. originals vinyl copies of many of point gs early tracks are notoriously hard to find, giving this comeback even more kudos.

2015 repress ! passionate advocates of vinyl, apollonia re-press point gs rare classic underwater, the first in a number of their personal out-of-stock favourites. the archetypal track of the paris afterhours that encapsulates the sound of the batofar kwality parties, a memory which is at the very core and stimulus of apollonia... underwater was a favourite of the trio back in 1998 and continues to be a record bag must-have in 2013. moody, bassy, a freaky lose-yourself-moment in the spaced-out melody, this deep house classic is being re-pressed for the first time exclusively on apollonia. a production project of dj gregory, the point g imprint created in the mid 90s offered a dark, raw interpretation of us deep house, given his alternative french twist. making a strong impact on the underground scene at the time, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw and on the raw again eps, hence original copies of many of his early tracks are extremely scarce

we are honoured to present the milan-based duo carol consisting of damian and fedex. fedex has been collecting records and dj-ing since the age of 15 when the italian club and rave scene was about to explode. after many years of dj-ing and producing music in italy and germany he found his home in milan by joining the cockette party crew where he expressed his musical versatility and love for dancefloor shaking. damian started out in londons late 90s electroclash scene with the cult electro band damian and the puzzy france and later on approached techno and house as a promoter and dj.

alex font repeats in oblack- only like the best and he does it showing the most acidic and clubby version of that the real house that permeates their sound from start to finish. this acid flow is the fifteenth reference of the pastorial label commanded by snna and nacho arauz- from ibiza the valencian alex font presents us with an original passage of festive house, trotter and no-friend of the depressions where the legendary sound of the roland tb-303 is the pacesetter, disguises the soul and adds foundation to the track. and, since it breaks the acidic sound through antonomasia, this acid flow, shows his playful and fun side. this is a bright and optimistic theme, designed and checked to make us dance with a smile on our face, no doubt. a bare-chested tribute to those early 90s when electronics was all about joy and effervescence.

more nordic talents knocking on the door with some proper house! junk yard connections is the debut release of stocktown duo laguna ladies. aside of the original there are remixes by moomin and baba stiltz. moomin give us a flashback to the 90s bouncy yard, with sunshine and blunts when baba flipping the happy acid vibe up side down and goes into the techno wildness. great to see junk yard connection going so strong!

after many uk based producers, its time again for some homeboys. elvis is a young dj and producer from zurich/switzerland and his humney ep is his first full release to date.humney is that catchy house tune with a touch of the 90s house sound, with a great bass line, sexy vocals (from the lovely choklate) and solid beats. the up and coming palace (hot haus records) adds a rougher vibe with his remix, but its still humney. the way is taking a deeper direction and shows that elvis cassetta is definitely a name to watch out for!

having previously kept their re-edit series in-house, leeds-based crate-diggers joe s bakery have invited moton (aka london veterans diesel and dave jarvis) to deliver the latest release. those who ve followed the moton records inc series (active since the 90s) will know what to expect: expert re-rubs of obscure material that get the right balance between dancefloor chops and home listening selections. look out for the odd shuffle and electric piano solos of -moody blues-, the percussive early 80s, synth-heavy live disco brilliance of -zoo- (yes, it s definitely balearic) and the hazy, midtempo disco-funk of -bumps-. it s getting progressively hard to find worthwhile re-edit 12- singles, but this one s a genuine killer

ecstatic welcomes l/f/d/m to the fold with his debut record m is a shape. l/f/d/m is london based producer richard smith. l/f/d/m first emerged in 2013, inaugurating the optimo trax series with the purple maps ep. in 2014 he teamed up with factory floors dominic butler to release two eps of hardware-driven atonal techno on powells diagonal records. m is a shape bristles with cloudy, industrial, stripped down acid/techno, landing somewhere between berghain, the warehouse sound of the late 90s and the caustic spirit of ebm.

the much loved, slightly mysterious but always firing r-zone series rolls on to its 12th release here. this time the dutch collective serves up five searing club tracks that are as raw and energetic as ever and look back to a 90s uk heyday for their inspiration. first up is beginning of life, with old school loon bird calls, lots of rave intentions and nebulous pads all creating a sweaty atmosphere atop rough hewn drums.

dj vas is back with another killer volume of his re-edits & more series! dj vas is primarily known as a member of pioneering 90s french house band, kojak. when the 1.0 french touch wave was blowing the world, kojak was one of the fourth most popular acts in france alongside daft punk, air or cassius.

de:tuned was founded in 2009 by ruben boons and bert hermans. the pair first organised a series of old school techno parties in antwerp (belgium) before launching the record label in 2012. to celebrate 5 years de:tuned they now turn out a very special 5lp album featuring 21 tracks from some of the most respected names in the game. the album has its roots firmly in early/mid 90s techno and electronica, a style which de:tuned has always presented, and spans some 20 years of electronic music.

what better way to follow up andy meechams (chicken lips / emperor machine) huge gino fontaine originals than a duo of remixes from balearic chieftains pete herbert & stratus as one half of reverso 68 alongside phil mison, and in his own right pete has been behind a ton of mesmerising sunrise and sunset workouts, and he’s more than delivered here - crisp and club ready percussion, those stark punk-funkin’ guitars and his trademark synth work all conspire to cook up a storm on the floor martin jenkins and mat anthonys stratus outfit (remember their superb *spring tide ep* on aficionado last year ?) take a pop at the sublime konkondo on the flip and what a masterpiece it is ! a ten minute, utterly absorbing and expertly evolving piece, which flips the darker elements of the original into a mesmerising, cinematic, early 90s style balearic epic.

>sleduyushly< or who is next on sol asylum is anton zap. we are pleased to be closing out 2014 with the delightfully well-crafted deep house that resonates within anton. we start with talking a simplistic yet deep and ever-evolving atmosphere with peculiar echoes and noises that speak to us through constantly moving metallic percussion. next rublewood with its trotting wooden clicks and oscillating claps we morph through the track until the euphoric themes expand bringing us to the next level. in my lesson, anton channels a 90s ambience with a definite feel for funk. arpeggiated synths with just a hint of acid mixed with harmonic pads and unconventional horn riffs bring this eccentric soundtrack together. finally her lesson brings us to more experimental territory with a futuristic outer galactic journey through space and time where a metronomic kick, walking bassline and gleaming pads transport us to another dimension.
